Biography

Amy Belfi is an Associate Professor, Kummer Impact Professor, and Assistant Chair of Graduate Studies in the Department of Psychological Science at Missouri University of Science and Technology. She received her B.A. in Psychology from St. Olaf College, her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Iowa, and completed postdoctoral training at New York University. Her work covers a broad range of topics in the field of music cognition, including music and autobiographical memory, musical imagery, aesthetic judgments of music, and musical anhedonia. She uses a variety of techniques to investigate these subjects, including behavioral studies, functional neuroimaging, psychophysiology, and neuropsychological approaches. She teaches undergraduate courses in cognitive psychology and neuroscience and directs the Music Cognition and Aesthetics Lab. She recently received Early Career Awards from the Psychonomic Society and the Society for Music Perception and Cognition in 2024. Additionally, she was elected as a Fellow of the American Psychological Association in 2024.
