Biography

Dr. Mario Buchely is a highly qualified and experienced Research and Assistant Professor with expertise in mechanical engineering and materials science. He currently holds a position as the Roberta and G. Robert Couch Assistant Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Missouri S&T, and as a PI at the Kent D. Peaslee Steel Manufacturing Research Center (PSMRC) at Missouri S&T, where he conducts research and oversees projects related to metallurgy, manufacturing and steelmaking fields. His research interests include thermo-mechanical testing and design, thermo-mechanical characterization of materials, finite-element analysis, manufacturing technologies, and steelmaking process and technology.

Dr. Buchely earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from National University of Colombia in 2004, and a M.Sc. and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Universidad de los Andes (Colombia) in 2010 and 2016, respectively. After completing his PhD, he held a postdoctoral appointment at Missouri S&T for four years, working in the PSMRC on various research projects related to the steelmaking process.
