Digital Accessibility at Missouri S&T
Resources for users and content creators

At Missouri S&T, we believe digital accessibility is essential for fostering an inclusive, innovative campus. Our new Digital Accessibility Task Force is here to guide, support, and empower you to create digital content and experiences that are usable by everyone, in alignment with new federal ADA Title II regulations and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA standards by April 2026.
What is digital accessibility?
Digital accessibility means digital materials are usable for everyone, including people with disabilities. It ensures that websites, apps, videos, documents, etc. are easy to use and understand. The goal is to give everyone equal access to information and functionality.
Accessible content isn’t just a legal requirement; it’s a commitment to equity, innovation, and student success.
Core principles of digital accessibility
The WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) framework defines four main principles:
- Perceivable: Information must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive
- Operable: User interface components must be operable by all users
- Understandable: Information and interface operation must be understandable
- Robust: Content must be robust enough to work with various assistive technologies.
Digital Accessibility Task Force
The S&T Digital Accessibility Task Force was created to help our campus meet these requirements by April 24, 2026. In partnership with the University of Missouri System, the task force will help set priorities, communicate with campus, develop training materials and work with others across campus to make sure we meet our accessibility goals.
