Biography

Andreas Eckert is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geosciences, Geological and Petroleum Engineering at Missouri S&T, where he is a faculty member since 2008. He is the director of Missouri S&T’s Energetic Materials, Rock Characterization and Geomechanics Research Center.

Andreas competed his MS (2003) and PhD (2007) in Geophysics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany. His research work focuses primarily on the numerical simulation of geomechanical processes and applications on various scales. Topics range from crustal state of stress simulation and associated earthquake hazard, buckle folding, to wellbore integrity and associated leakage assessment.

Andreas currently teaches several classes in the GGPE Department including “Geomechanics” and “Well Logging” for undergraduates, as well as “Professional Geoscience Skills” for graduate students.
