Dr. Ming Leu’s PhD student M. Hossein Sehhat was awarded dean’s honors of CEC.
Eight Ph.D. students at Missouri University of Science and Technology were awarded dean’s honors from the university’s College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) during a May 11 ceremony at the Havener Center.
Two of the students received the Dean’s Graduate Educator Award in recognition of excellence in teaching, and six were honored with the Dean’s Ph.D. Scholar Award, which recognizes research contributions to the college. The students selected represent five of the college’s nine departments.
“Our graduate students do incredible work both in the classroom and when conducting research,” says Dr. Francisca Oboh-Ikuenobe, CEC associate dean for academic affairs. “These are highly competitive awards, so the students selected should be proud, as should their advisors. I commend the awardees for their hard work and dedication.”
The award winners were selected based on a two-tier process. Each CEC department was invited to nominate up to three students for consideration. Then, a committee with representatives from five CEC academic departments selected the winners.
Dr. Ming Leu’s PhD student M. Hossein Sehhat, mechanical and aerospace engineering, is one of the winners.
Selection committee members included Drs. Doug Bristow, professor of mechanical engineering; Kelly Liu, professor of geophysics; Shoaib Usman, associate professor of nuclear engineering and radiation science; R. Joe Stanley, professor of electrical and computer engineering; and Hongyan Ma, Benavides Scholar and associate professor of civil engineering.
