The center facilitates advanced processes, materials, and integrative workforce development techniques to enable next-generation manufacturing, spurring regional and national economic development.

Areas of Research Focus

The Center for Advanced Manufacturing focuses on advancing additive manufacturing processes such as solid-state deposition, direct energy deposition, and powder bed fusion technologies. By studying and teaching these cutting-edge processes, we equip students and industry partners with the skills needed to innovate and optimize production. This empowers manufacturers to compete more effectively in the national and global market.

Lab Space and Equipment

The Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CAM) has a shared working space located in the Engineering Management Building at Missouri S&T. Upon the completion of the new building for Missouri Protoplex, CAM will move operations to the new location.

Center Team

The Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CAM) is made up of a team of skilled engineers educated in the areas of manufacturing and metallurgy along with a business team who focuses on project management, financials, industry engagement, and communications efforts.

The Kummer Institute Center for Advanced Manufacturing, a part of the Missouri Protoplex at Missouri S&T, works on projects in advanced manufacturing in processes such as cold spray, WAAM, and powder bed fusion. Learn more
