New Program Bridges S&T and Industry

Kummer College’s newest program, Team Innovation Projects (TIP), creates strong collaborations between S&T and industry partners. Moving beyond the traditional classroom, TIP immerses participants in hands-on environments that tackle real business challenges. Students gain valuable experience while networking with company employees; faculty apply their expertise to industry problems and companies gain access to a pool of talented students while getting a cost-effective solution for their business needs. TIP transforms collaboration into results, providing growth, discovery and lasting impact for everyone involved.

A message from the dean

Dear friends and colleagues,
This year, Missouri S&T celebrates the five-year anniversary of a transformational gift from June and Fred Kummer. Kummer College was established on July 1, 2022.

In this short time, we’ve built a strong foundation that connects to the university’s North Star Goals while we shape a bright future for our college. […]

The Kummer College of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development was created from the transformative $300 million gift from June and Fred Kummer, a 1955 graduate of Missouri S&T. The gift was announced on Oct. 9, 2020, and launched a new era for the university, creating opportunities across disciplines and communities. As part of the broader Kummer Institute, the college helps translate research into impact and prepares graduates to lead in today’s ever-changing world while strengthening Missouri’s innovation economy.

Kummer College puts discoveries into practice through a powerful combination of technological problem-solving and business acumen. We prepare graduates to forge a brighter future for society through hands-on education, interdisciplinary research and robust collaborations across Missouri S&T and in the communities we serve.

The Kummer College will achieve success and international prominence by turning knowledge into economic impact that will empower the private and public sectors, building a sustainable and prosperous future emanating from the heart of the Midwest.

  • Our community of students, faculty, staff and key partners are collaborative and curious.
  • Our approach to learning and discovery is interdisciplinary and innovative.
  • Together we seek solutions that make our economy and our communities resilient and sustainable.
