Instrumentation: Clarinet, Bassoon, Violin, Cello
Duration: 3’30”
Program Note:
Recently I read Eric Walter White’s masterful book on Igor Stravinsky. My exploration of Stravinsky led me to compose a piece for piano solo called Four Easy Pieces which I quite liked upon completion. With Stravinsky again in mind, specifically his Eight Instrumental Miniatures, based on some of his own simple piano pieces, I decided to orchestrate my little pieces for quartet. As with the Four Easy Pieces, I hope I succeeded in creating a piece that is satisfying for students and professionals and leaves the listener feeling unchallenged and carefree.
It is worth noting that some of the tempos between the Four Easy Pieces and Four Instrumental Miniatures are different.
