Research Interests

Our research interests are in the frontier areas of organic, physical organic, and bioorganic chemistry, ranging from synthetic organic chemistry to organic and bioorganic reaction mechanisms, organofluorine chemistry, green chemistry, nonaqueous electrolytes, protein modifications, oxidative stress, superacids, carbocations, and asymmetric Friedel-Crafts reactions. Some of our recent contributions include novel synthetic methods for trifluoromethylations; selective kinase inhibitors as therapeutics for Alzheimer’s disease and other neurological disorders; AGE-inhibitors for mechanistic investigations of aging process and as potential therapeutics in various age-related diseases; and nonaqueous electrolytes and anion receptors as sustainable materials for lithium-ion batteries.
