The Pre-Medicine Advisory Committee plays a vital role in supporting students applying to medical school. The committee arranges interviews to provide students with detailed feedback on their application materials and prepares a comprehensive Committee Letter of Recommendation based on the interview.
Committee Responsibilities
Student Evaluation: The committee assesses each student’s achievements at Missouri S&T, focusing on:
- Grades in medical school prerequisite courses
- Volunteer activities
- Leadership roles
- Exposure to the medical profession
- Communication skills
- Maturity and self-awareness, including strengths and weaknesses
Application Enhancement: Students receive personalized feedback on their personal statement and activity descriptions to ensure their applications are as strong as possible.
Interview Process
- Interviews are conducted in April and May for students planning to apply to medical schools.
- Both current students and alumni can take advantage of the committee’s resources, regardless of whether a committee letter is required for their application
