Dr. Katelyn Kiser, Senior Metallurgical Engineer with the Kummer Institute Center for Advanced Manufacturing, was selected to receive the 2025 Hunt-Kelly Outstanding Paper Award with Dr. Ronald O’Malley, Dr. Laura Bartlett, and Dr. Mario Buchely – all of Missouri University of Science & Technology- for their paper entitled “In-Situ Observation of the Solidification of X70 Steel Using High-Temperature Confocal Scanning Laser Microscope.”
The Hunt-Kelly Outstanding Paper Award, established in 2004 by the Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST), recognizes the best published technical paper of the previous year in the field of iron and steel technology. This prestigious award, which combines the legacy of the ISS Robert W. Hunt Award and the AISE John F. Kelly Award, honors excellence, originality, and relevance to the industry.
The winners of the Hunt-Kelly Outstanding Paper Award will be honored during the AIST President’s Award Breakfast at this year’s AISTech 2025 conference, held at the Music City Center in Nashville, Tennessee. This premier event, taking place in May, brings together over 7,000 professionals from the iron and steel industry to share knowledge and innovations. The award ceremony will be a highlight of the conference, recognizing the exceptional contributions of the winning authors in front of their peers and industry leaders.
