Biography

Muhammad Azeem Raza is an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Mining & Explosives Engineering at Missouri University of Science & Technology (Missouri S&T). He holds a Ph.D. in Mining Engineering from Missouri S&T, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Petroleum Engineering at the University of Oklahoma, Norman in 2018. Additionally, he holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Mining Engineering, an M.Sc. in Computer Science, and an MBA from the University of Engineering & Technology (UET), Pakistan. Prior to joining Missouri S&T, Dr. Raza served as an Associate Professor of mining engineering at UET, where he held administrative roles such as Director of the Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization, and as Director for the Office of Planning & Development.

Dr. Raza’s current research focuses on developing innovative technologies to improve mine health, safety, and rescue operations. He leverages immersive technologies to enhance situational awareness, decision-making, and expertise development in mining environments. His contributions include modeling stress and fatigue failures in mining equipment, as well as improving safety and operational efficiency through simulation-based technologies. By integrating cutting-edge tools such as artificial intelligence, immersive technologies, and machine learning, Dr. Raza’s research aims to advance both mining education and industry safety practices.
