About

Our Mission

Miner Recovery Fellowship is a community dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, and confidential space for individuals navigating recovery, sobriety, and the challenges of addiction. Rooted in compassion, understanding, and shared experiences, we welcome faculty and staff who are:

  • Seeking recovery from addiction
  • Supporting loved ones affected by addiction
  • Exploring sobriety and looking for guidance in a judgment-free environment
  • Already sober and looking to connect with like-minded individuals for support and fellowship

Guided by AA principles, our mission is to foster healing, resilience, and connection, empowering individuals to take meaningful steps toward a healthier and more fulfilling life.

Meeting Structure

Miner Recovery Fellowship – Meeting Structure
(This will be a “stick” meeting, following a consistent format each week.)

  1. Opening the Meeting
Begin with a moment of silence.
  2. Readings & Introductions
Read The Promises from the A.A. Big Book.
Ask new members and visitors to introduce themselves by their first name only (if comfortable).
Ask if anyone has any sobriety milestones or celebrations they’d like to share.
  3. Announcements & Group Business
Share any group updates, upcoming events, or service opportunities.
Invite members to share any relevant announcements related to recovery and sobriety.
  4. Stick Meeting: Sharing & Discussion
A mug filled with popsicle sticks is passed around. Each stick has a word or theme related to recovery (e.g., acceptance, gratitude, honesty, surrender).
Each person draws a stick, reads the word aloud, and shares their thoughts on how it relates to their journey. After they share they pass the cup to the next person.
If someone prefers not to share, they can simply pass.
The cup continues around the group until time runs out or everyone has had a chance to participate.
  5. Closing the Meeting
Close with a moment of silence.
End with a reading or affirmation.

Additional Notes:

  • Confidentiality is key: what is shared in the meeting stays in the meeting.
  • No one is required to speak; listening is participation.
  • The group will evolve based on members’ needs and feedback.
  • Many people in AA-structured meetings introduce themselves by saying, “Hello, I’m [Name], and I’m an [alcoholic, addict, etc].” While you are welcome to do so, it is not required.
