Biography

Dr. Xiaodong Yang joined the Missouri S&T faculty in 2011. He earned a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from University of Science and Technology of China in 2000 and a master’s degree in physics from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2003. He earned a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Columbia University in 2009.

His interdisciplinary research focuses on the physics and applications of photonics, plasmonics and optical metamaterials based on engineered optical nanostructures used for nanoelectromechanical systems, optical sensing, optical communication and solar and thermal energy harvesting.
