Professor Greg Hilmas and I collaborate to study ceramic materials for extreme environments with a focus on ultra-high temperature ceramics. Our group studies the synthesis, densification, microstructure development, mechanical behavior, thermal properties, and environmental response of boride and carbide ceramics. We have a unique combination of capabilities our laboratories to produce high-quality ceramic materials and measure thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties to temperatures of 2000°C or higher.
