My Teaching Philosophy
Dr. Hong is passionate and patient about working with students both inside and outside the classroom. As a teacher, stimulating students’ interest and motivating the students to go deeper and deeper in mathematics are my crucial ideas in creating a successful studying environment.
Spring 2026 Course
Math 5604 Section 101-Introduction to Numerical Methods for Differential Equations
• Discretize initial value problems and conduct numerical analysis
• Discretize boundary value problems and conduct numerical analysis
• Solve time-dependent partial differential equations (e.g., diffusion equation)
- Textbook: Finite Difference Methods for Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations, by Randall J. LeVeque, SIAM.
