Teaching Philosophy
As an instructor, I believe teaching is a collaboration between students and instructors, where faculty guide students in developing skills, but allow students to take ownership over their own learning. I promote student learning by helping them develop their own expertise as writers and thinkers. I teach writing and literature because they help students gain writing skills and cultural literacies that enable them to communicate effectively both within the classroom and the world beyond.
