Biography

Shane Epting is an assistant professor at the Missouri University of Science and Technology. He is a co-founder of the Philosophy of the City Research Group. His research focuses on issues involving competing stakeholders. He draws from several schools of philosophy, from Plato and Aristotle to contemporary works. Most of his work addresses issues relating to smart cities, municipalities, transport systems, infrastructure, urban sustainability, and resilience. He is the author of four books and dozens of articles in peer-reviewed journals. He has given several keynote talks and numerous presentations worldwide, and he has been a guest on nationally syndicated radio and is quoted in the media. Epting has won several awards for his research and teaching.
