Work with Students
Dr. Wang is passionate about working with students both inside and outside the classroom. Throughout his career, he has developed eight new courses and has successfully supervised nine doctoral dissertations and numerous master’s and bachelor’s theses. Many of his former students have found success in higher education institutions, as well as in various financial and other industries.
Courses Taught
MATH 6417: Functional Analysis
- Learn basic concepts of Banach spaces, Hilbert spaces, and linear transformations, bounded linear maps, compact operators, duality, weak topologies, and convexity.
- Acquire fundamental understanding of Hahn-Banach theorem, uniform boundedness principle, and elementary spectral theory.
- Semester taught: Fall 2023
- Syllabus: check CANVAS
MATH 5325: Partial Differential Equations
- Learn elementary theories and applications of partial differential equations. Students are expected to be able to solve simple linear partial differential equations and interpret the answers by the end of the semester.
- Topics covered: derivation of the heat, Laplace, Poisson and wave equations; separation of variables, Fourier series, Sturm-Liouville problems, initial value problems (IVP), boundary value problems (BVP), nonhomogeneous problems, and higher dimensional PDEs.
- Semester taught: Spring 2023
- Syllabus: check CANVAS
